From time to time the trustees of High Cape One receive requests from owners to have trees trimmed in order to improve the views that these owners have from their properties. Whilst the trustees always do their best to accommodate requests from owners, factors such as wind barriers, shade for parking and privacy are taken into account when receiving each request.

The recommended procedure for logging requests from owners for tree trimming is as follows:

  • Applicant must submit a written request to the managing agents
  • The request must provide as much detail as possible of the approximate extent of the trim required
  • The request should be accompanied by agreement from the requestor that they will bear the total cost of removal of the foliage. The cost of removal of the foliage will be calculated at the cost that the gardening sub-contractors charge per bakkie load. This charge is reviewed annually, when the contracts are renewed.
  • The request must be accompanied by written consent and agreement of the other owners/neighbours who might be affected by the trimming.
  • Requests will be tabled for approval by the managing agents at the regular trustee meetings and the requestor will normally receive feedback after the trustee meeting.

Applicants should bear in mind that the trees will grow back to their original shape prior to trimming in due course and that the trimming exercise will have to be repeated in future.
